There is also the objection that a utility-scale brand like First Solar is overkill for a small pilot project. Maybe. But a lower lifetime cost per watt is not a luxury. It is arithmetic. That kind of failure does not show up in a unit price.

In my opinion, First Solar's competitive advantage is not a fancy technology catchphrase. It is predictable engineering, clear paperwork, and a product roadmap that does not move around while you are trying to build a budget. That is not a guarantee. It is an argument. And in this job, arguments backed by datasheets are the only ones worth having.
